The laboratory pictured is one of several teaching laboratories in the School of Sustainability used for courses in Education, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. Here, students can carry out laboratory experiments on chemical topics in a practical way and under professional supervision. There are usually 10-16 students in a laboratory course at any one time.

In addition, the Central Building houses the inter-School research laboratories "Leuphana Laboratories", which are used for research into human behaviour in all its dimensions. Interdisciplinary research areas include eye tracking, Emotion FaceReader, virtual reality and psycho-psychology.
